Mid-summer is for experimentation: new routes to work, summer flings, new ways to hide your profuse sweating. Whatever your new venture might be this July, there’s a song for it on this playlist. It might be “Brainfreeze (Cid Rim Remix)” by Ogris Debris, a super slimy, strange track that I doubted putting on the playlist and then realized it was one of my favorites, or THE BLANK TAPES “Sexxy Skyype” because well, we’ve all done it. If you’re traveling, try OPAL’s “I’m From France.” Wanting to sink into the sand and stay there forever? Try any song.
This month’s honorable mentions are spectacular and I’m going to list the bands so you don’t miss them. Go forth and discover: Basement Revolver, Lunch Duchess, Rosemary Fairweather, Trudy and the Romance, Shunkan, Sure Sure.
An anthem for woozy, lilting, gentle days. It never gets old and it’s my favorite track on this playlist.
If The Morning Benders kept with it and didn’t blow it by turning into POP ETC, this is what they’d grow up to be.
The Cranberries had a love child with Courtney Barnett and then that kid grew up to be insanely talented and driven and Lunch Duchess.
Distorted, tender, psych-rock lullaby that will put you to sleep in a warm, cuddly, beachy way.
This band. RULES. Seriously, the best thing coming out of Liverpool right now.
