This month I mostly felt weird inside and ended up collecting tunes from mellow, jangly bands that keep pollen allergies and transitional frustrations at bay. The playlist starts a little off kilter and upbeat with FYR FYTR and WOOF.—two bands that need to be much better known than they are. It then takes a dive into melodic hip-hop, aggressive psych-rock, and lands woozy, acoustic, shoegaze.
This heap of music? It's made for trying on masks at toy shops, adjusting to more daylight hours, and holding your breath until puffy jackets can be stuffed to the back of your closet.
Weird words matched to brilliant melody writing.
When you're sad but want to keep moving...this song.
Can't. Get. Enough. Of. This.
If this band isn't on your radar, it should be now.
Get lost in this instrumental and blissful bump.
Like taking a sip from a neat, smoked whiskey.
Because soft piano makes the "c-word" so much better.
